ENACTMENT NO. 10 OF 1996 CONTROL OF ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS ENACTMENT 1996
PART III - REGISTRATION OF SCHOOLS
Section 9. Cancellation of registration.
(1) The registration of a school under section 6 may be cancelled by the Registrar after giving the Board an opportunity to make representations, if the Registrar is satisfied that the Board---
(a) has contravened any condition specified in the Certificate of Registrar or any condition imposed under subsection 6(6);
(b) has contravened any provision of this Enactment or the Rules made thereunder;
(c) has failed to prevent the school from being used for purposes which are detrimental or contrary to the interest of the State or the Federation;
(d) has failed to prevent the school from being used for any activity or purpose of an unlawful nature, or for any activity or purpose of an unlawful organization, society or other body of persons.
(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1) the Registrar, other than cancelling the registration may dissolve the Board and appoints a temporary Committee which shall be chaired by the Religious Administrative Officer until a new Board is appointed by the Registrar to replace the said Committee.
(3) The decision of the Registrar to cancel the registration shall be served by a written notice to the Board stating the grounds of its cancellation in the notice and from the following date upon receipt of the notice, the Board shall cease to operate the school without prejudice to the powers of the Registrar to prescribe the date from which the notice is effective.
