Section 33. Appointment of Mufti.

(1) The Yang di-Pertua Negeri may, on the advice of the Minister, after consulting the Majlis appoint fit and proper persons to be the Mufti Kerajaan and the Timbalan Mufti Kerajaan for the State of Sabah.

(2) Upon the commencement of this Enactment, any person who, immediately before the commencement of this Enactment was the Mufti for the State of Sabah appointed under the Adnistration of Muslim Law Enactment 1977 shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under this section to be the Mufti Kerajaan for the State of Sabah and shall hold office as such.
