PART III - REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES

Section 28. Appointment of Chief Registrar, Registrars, Deputy Registrars, and Assistant Registrars of Muslim Marriages, Divorces, and Ruju'.

(1) The Yang di-Pertuan Besar with the consent of the Ruling Chiefs may appoint any qualified public officer to be the Chief Registrar of Muslim Marriages, Divorces and Ruju' for the purposes of this Enactment, who shall have general supervision and control over Registrars and the registration of marriages, divorces and ruju' under this Enactment.

(2) The Yang di-Pertuan Besar with the consent of the Ruling Chiefs may appoint so many qualified persons as may be necessary, to be Registrars, Deputy Registrars or Assistant Registrars of Muslim Marriages, Divorces and Ruju' for such kariah masjid in Negeri Sembilan as may be specified in the appointment.

(3) Every person apponted under subsection (2) who is not a public officer shall be deemed to be a public officer for the purposes of the Penal Code [F.M.S. Cap.45.].
