PART VII - ABETMENT AND ATTEMPT

Section 52. Attempts.

(1) Any person who attempts-

(a) to commit any offence punishable under this Enactment or under any other written law relating to Islamic Law; or

(b) to cause such an offence to be committed,

and in such attempt does any act towards the commission of such offence shall, where no express provision is made in this Enactment or such other written law, as the case may be, for the punishment of such attempt, be liable to be punished with such punishment as is provided for such offence.

(2) Any term of imprisonment imposed as a punishment under subsection (1) for an attempt to commit an offence or to cause an offence to be committed shall not exceed one half of the maximum term of imprisonment provided for the offence.
