PART IX - FINANCIAL MATTERS

Section 104. Power of the Majlis to collect Zakat and Fitrah

(1) The Majlis shall have power to collect on behalf of the Yang di - Pertuan Agong, zakatand fitrah payable in the State in accordance with Islamic Law:

Provided that such power shall not be exercised by the Majlis until a resolution to that effect has been passed by the Majlis and approved by the Yang di - Pertuan Agong.

(2) On the publication in the Gazette of the resolution referred to in subsection (I) of this section and subject to the provisions of Islamic Law, it shall be obligatory on all Muslims in the State to pay zakat and fitrah.
