Section 171. Maintenance of mosques.

(1) It shall be the duty of the Commissioner to maintain from time to time all mosques in the State as may be necessary and keep them in a proper state of repaIr.

(2) The Commissioner may raise and apply, or authorize the raising and application of, special funds for the purpose of such maintenance, or may defray the necessary cost of maintenance from the Fund.

(3) The Commissioner may delegate all or any of his powers under this section to any person he thinks fit and proper; however, a person delegated with powers under this subsection shall not make any major alteration to any mosque except with the permission in writing of the Commissioner.
