Section 34. Appointment of Mufti

(1) The Yang di - Pertuan Agong may, on the advice of the State Executive Council, after consulting the Majlis, appoint a fit and proper person to be the Mufti of 'the State of Penang.

(2) Upon the commencement of this section, any person who, immediately before the commencement,
was the Mufti of the State of Penang appointed under the Administration of Muslim Law Enactment 1959 (En 3/1959)shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under this section to be the Mufti of the State of Penang and shall hold office as such.
