PART III - REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE



Section 25. Voluntary registration of Muslim marriage prior to this Enactment under any law.

(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 4 and 23 parties to any marriage solemnized under any law before the commencement of this Enactment may; if the marriage had not been registered, at any time apply to the Registrar in the form provided to register the marriage.

(2) The Registrar may require the parties to the marriage to attend before him, produce any evidence relating to the marriage and give whatever details required by him.

(3) The Registrar may, on being satisfied with the truth of the fact stated in the application register the marriage together with the details of the marriage in the District Register.

(4) The details of the marriage in the District Register shall be signed by the Registrar who recorded the details and both parties to the marriage if present, and if absent,
by any of the party present before the Registrar for the registration of the marriage.

(5) When the marriage is registered-

(6) A Registrar shall not register any marriage under this section if he is satisfied that the marriage is not recognised under the provisions of this Enactment.
