PART III - MARRIAGE AND REGISTRATION

Section 12. Maskahwin and pemberian.

(1) The maskahwin may be paid by the husband or his representative to the wife or her representative in the presence of the person solemnising the marriage and at least two other witnesses.

(2) The Registrar shall in respect of every marriage to be registered by him, ascertain and record-

(a) the amount of maskahwin;

(b) the amount of any pemberian;

(c) the amount of any part of the maskahwin which was promised but not paid at the time of the solemnisatioh of the marriage; and

(d) particulars of any security given for the payment of any maskahwin.
