ENACTMENT NO 1 OF 1989 CONTROL OF ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS ENACTMENT (PENANG) 1989
PART I - PRELIMINARY
Section 2. Interpretation
In this Enactment. unless the context otherwise requires-
"Board" means the Board of Management established under section 5 of this Enactment;
"Islamic School" means any Islamic Religious School in the State and includes a mosque, madrasah, surau, Islamic centre, balaisah, pondok and kindergarten but does not include any Islamic Religious Schools under the control of the Ministry of Education where twenty or more persons are registered to learn or to be taught subjects which include any subject relating to the religion of Islam;
"Islamic School Inspector"· means an Inspector appointed under section 17 of this Enactment;
"Lembaga" means a body set up by the Conference of Rulers known as the "Lembaga Penasihat Penyelarasan Pelajaran dan Pendidikan Agama Islam";
"Majlis" means the Majlis: Agama Islam constituted under section 10· of the Administration of Muslim Law Enactment 1959 ( En. 3/59); and
"Registrar" means the Registrar appointed under section 3 of this Enactment, and includes the Deputy Registrars.
