PART II - MAJLIS
Section 11. Membership of the Majlis
(1) The Majlis shall consist of the following members:
(a) a Chairman;
(b) a Deputy Chairman;
(c) three ex-officio members who shall be the persons for the time being holding the following appointments:
(i) the State Secretary;
(ii) the State Legal Adviser;
(iii) the Mufti; and
(d) not more than ten other members, at least five of whom shall be persons who are learned in Hukum Syarak.
(2) The Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and the members appointed under paragraph (1)(d) shall be appointed by the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Pemerintah for such period, not exceeding three years, as the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Pemerintah may determine.
(3) A member whose term of office has expired may be reappointed.
(4) If at any time the person holding the appointment mentioned in subparagraph (1)(c)(i) or (ii) is not a Muslim, the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Pemerintah shall appoint another officer who is a Muslim and next in seniority from the same Department or Division to be a member in place of that person.
(5) Every person who, immediately before the commencement of this section, was the Chairman, appointed member of the previous Majlis shall, subject to this Enactment, each continue to be the Chairman, Deputy Chairman or member of the Majlis until the expiry of his term of appointment.
