PART III - MARRIAGE AND REGISTRATION



Section 28. Correction of errors.

(1) If the Chief Registrar is satisfied by statutory declaration or otherwise that any entry relating to a marriage is erroneous in form or substance, he may, in the presence of the persons married, or, if they are absent, in the presence of two credible witnesses, correct the error by deleting any entry in the Register of Marriages which is erroneous and making the correct entry therein.

(2) The Chief Registrar shall sign and date the correction made in the Marriage Register.

(3) Every entry made under subsection (1) shall be attested by the witnesses in whose presence it was made.
