(1) For the purpose of service, a summons shall be valid in the first instance for 12 months beginning with the date of issuance.
(2) Where a summons has not been served on a defendant within the period specified in subsection (1), an application may be made to the Court to extend the validity of the summons before the expiry date or at any time after it as allowed by the Court.
(3) The Court may extend the validity of a summons for such period not exceeding 12 months at anyone time, beginning with the day next following that on which it would expire.
