PART III- SYAR'IAH COURTS

Section 31. Jurisdiction of the Courts and powers of Cheif Qadi and Qadis.

(1) The Syar'iah High Court shall have jurisdiction throughout the State and shall be presided over by the Chief Qadi or the Deputy Chief Qadi.

(2) Subject to the provisions of this Enactment, a Syar'iah Subordinate Court shall have jurisdiction in respect of any civil or other matters of the nature hereinafter specified ,arising within the local limits of its jurisdiction as prescribed under section 29(2) or, if no local limits are so prescribed, within the State, and shall be presided over by the Qadi appointed thereto.
