PART VIII - CONVERSION TO ISLAM



Section 84. Registration of Conversion

(1) A person who has converted to Islam may apply to the Registrar of Conversion in the prescribed form for registration as a convert.

(2) If the Registrar of Conversion is satisfied that the requirements of section 77 and 78 have been fulfilled in respect of the person, the Registrar of Conversion shall register his conversion by entering in the Register of Conversion the name of the person and other particulars as indicatd in the Register of Conversion.

(3) If the Registar of Conversion is satisfied that section 80 applies in that a convert has been granted custody of a child who at the moment of the former's conversion to Islam was below the age of eighteen,
the Registrar of Conversion shall upon application of the said convert likewise register the conversion
of the child in the Register of Conversion.

(4) The Registrar of Conversion shall also determine the date of conversion and enter the date in the Register of Conversion.

(5) In order to satisfy himself of the fact and date of conversion, and other particulars including age, etc, in the Register of Conversion, the Registrar of Conversion shall make such inquiries and call for such evidence as he considers necessary.

(6) If the Registrar is not satisfied that the requirements of section 78 have been fulfilled In respect of the applicant for conversion, he may permit the applicant to utter, in his presence or in the presence of any of his officers, the two clauses of the Affirmation of Faith in accordance with the requirements of that section.
