PART IV - PENALTIES AND MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SOLEMNIZATION AND REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES
Section 37. Interference with marriages.
Unless permitted under Hukum Syara', any person who uses any force or threat-
(a)to compel a person to marry against his will; or
(b)to prevent a man or a woman who has attained the age specified in section 8 from contracting a valid marriage,
commits an offence and shall on conviction be punished with a fine not exceeding one thousand ringgit or with imprisonment not exceeding six months or with both such fine and imprisonment.
