PART IV - PENALTY AND MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS RELATING TO SOLEMNIZATION AND REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE
Section 32. Offences relating to solemnization of a marriage.
(1) A person knowingly and in contravention of this Enactment solemnizes or does any act purporting to be a solemnization of a marriage or performs a ceremony
of marriage-
(a) without first obtaining-
(i) the approval under section 13 or;
(ii) the approval under section 17; and
(b) not in the presence of a minimum of two trustworthy witnesses other than the person who solemnizes the marriage,
is guilty of an offence and shall, on conviction be liable to an imprisonment for a term not exceeding two months or to a fine not exceeding three hundred ringgit or both.
(2) A person who solemnizes or does any act purporting to be solemnization of a marriage or performs a marriage rites with another person in contravention of any of the provisions of Part II is guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to an imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding one thousand ringgit or both.
