PART IV - SYARIAH COURTS

Section 49. Appointment of panel and composition of Syariah Appeal Court.

(1) Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan shall, on the advice of the Majlis after consultation with the Chief Syariah Judge, appoint five persons with experience or expertise in the law to constitute a standing panel of the Syariah Appeal Court and such appointment shall be notified in the Gazette.

(2) The Syariah Appeal Court shall consist of the Chief Syariah Judge as Chairman and two members of the panel selected by him.

(3) Where for any reason the Chief Syariah Judge is unable to preside over a Syariah Appeal Court Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan shall appoint a member of the panel to preside over the Court:

provided that the chairman so appointed shall, if necessary, select any other member of the panel to constitute such Court.
