PART VII - OFFENCES



Section 199. Religious teaching.

(1) Except to his household only and in his own residence, no person shall teach or expound or explain, or do any act which may be construed as teaching, expounding, or explaining, any matter relating to the Religion of Islam, without the written permission of the Commissioner.

(2) Unless permitted by any written law, no person or group of persons shall erect any Islamic religious school or use any existing building as or for the purpose of an Islamic religious school without the written per­mission of the Commissioner.

(3) Except with the approval of the Majlis, a person who has been found by the Fatwa Committee to have taught any faise doctrine shall not teach or expound or explain any matter relating to the Religion of Islam even in his own residence.

(4) Whoever contravenes subsection (1), (2), or (3) commits an offence and shall be punished with a fine not exceeding one thousand ringgit or with imprisonment not exceeding six months or with both.

(5) The Court may, subject to any rights of third party, order the' person convicted of an offence under subsection (2) to demolish the building in question.
