PART V - PROSECUTION, ENFORCEMENT AND REPRESENTATION

Section 62. Religious Enforcement Officers

(1) The Yang di-Pertuan Agong shall, on the advice of the Majlis, appoint a person from among the members of the general public service of the Federation or the State of Penang who is qualified to be a Judge of the Syariah High Court, to be the Chief Religious Enforcement Officer.

(2) The Majlis on the advice of the Chief Religious Enforcement Officer may appoint Religious Enforcement Officers to assist in the investigation of offences under this Enactment or under any other written law prescribing the offences against precepts of the religion of Islam.
