(1) A defendant may pay money into Court in satisfaction of the claim or any part thereof and ma! also pay a sum of money as costs.
(2) The defendant shall give notice to the plaintiff of the payment in and, where the payment in is less than the amount claimed, the notice shall state in respect of which part of the claim the payment is made.
