PART III - THE APPOINTMENT OF THE MUFTI, AUTHORITY IN RELIGIOUS MATTERS, THE FATWA COMMITTEE AND FATWA RELATING TO MATTER OF NATIONAL INTEREST

Section 44. Appointment of Mufti and Deputy Mufti

(1) The Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Pemerintah, after consulting the Majlis, may appoint any fit and proper person to be the Mufti and Deputy Mufti for the State of Perlis.

(2) The appointment of the Mufti and Deputy Mufti shall be published in the Gazette.

(3) Upon the commencement of this section, the person who is the Mufti and Deputy Mufti for the State of Perlis immediately before the commencement of this section shall be deemed to have been appointed under this section as a Mufti and Deputy Mufti for thc State of Perlis and shall continue to hold such appointment.
