Section 68. Appointment of the Pegawai Masjid

(1) For every mosque, the Majlis shall appoint as many pegawai masjidas the Majlis considers necessary.

(2) Every pegawai masjid shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of the Penal Code (FMS Cap.45).

(3) Upon the commencement of this section, every person who, immediately before that commencement, was the pegawai masjidof a mosque appointed under the Administration of Muslim Law Enactment 1959 shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under this section to be the pegawai masjidof the mosque and shall, subject to section 70 continue to hold office as such.
