Section 48. Substituted service.

(1) Where the Court is satisfied for any sufficient reason that the summons or other document cannot be served in the ordinary way, the Court may order the summons or other documents to be served by affixing a copy thereof on the notice board of the Court and also on some conspicuous part of the building in which the person to be served is known to have last resided, or in any other manner as the Court thinks fit.

(2) The Court may also, in any case falling within subsection (1), make an order for service by advertisement in such local newspaper or other newspapers as it thinks fit.

(3) Substituted service shall be as effective as personal service.

(4) In cases of substituted service, the Court shall, when necessary, fix the time of appearance in Court for the relevant party.

(5) No order for substituted service shall be made in respect of-
