PART II - APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE MAJLIS
Section 6. Term of office of members of the Majlis.
(1) Subject to subsection (2), any person appointed a member of the Majlis under section 5(1)(c) shall vacate his office at the expiry of a period of two years from the date of his appointment but shall be eligible for reappointment.
(2) The office of a member of the Majlis shall become vacant -
(a) upon his death; or
(b if he is declared an insolvent or a bankrupt or if he enters into any composition with his creditors; or
(c) if he is declared to be unsound mind, or
(d) if he is sentenced to imprisonment by a court of competent jurisdiction for a term of not less than one year or to a fine of not less than two thousand ringgit and has not received a free pardon; or
(e) if, by writing under his hand addressed to His Royal Highness the Sultan through the President, he resigns his office in the Majlis; or
(f) upon revocation of his appointment by His Royal Highness the Sultan; or
(g) if he leaves the State for a period of more than three months continuously without the written approval from the President given on behalf of His Royal Highness the Sulatn.
(3) Whenever the office of a member becomes vacant under subsection (2), any person appointed to fill the vacancy shall vacate his office at the expiry of the original term of office of the person in whose place he is appointed.
(4) The Majlis may continue to function nothwithstanding any vacancy in the number of its members.
