ENACTMENT NO. 2 OF 1992 ADMINISTRATION OF ISLAMIC LAW ENACTMENT 1992
PART II - MAJLIS AGAMA ISLAM DAN ADAT MELAYU PERAK
Section 7. Power of the Majlis in the economic and social development of Muslims.
(1) It shall be the duty of the Majlis to promote, stimute, facilitate and undertake the economic and social development and well-being of the Muslim comminity in the State of Perak Darul Ridzuan consistently with Hukum Syara'.
(2) For the purpose of subsection (1) the Majlis shall have power -
(a) to acrry on all development activities, commercial and industrial enterprises, and research and training the acrrying on whereof apperas to it to be requisite, advantageous or convenient, inlcuding the activities of manufacturing, assembling, processing, packing, grading and marketing;
(b) to promote the carrying on of any such activities by other bodies or persons, by way of establishing, expanding or promoting the establishment or expansion of, other bodies to carry on any such activities either under the control or partial control of the Majlis or independently, and to give assistance to such bodies or to other bodies or persons appearing to the Majlis to have the facilities for the carrying on of such activities, inlcuding financial assistance by the taking up of shares or giving of loans or by other means;
(c) to carry on any such activities in association with other bodies or persons, inlcuding the departments or authorities of the Government, or as managing agent on thier behalf or otherwise;
(d) to purcahse, underwrite or otherwise acquire any stocks and shares in any public or private company, and to dispose of the same on such tems and conditions as the Majlis may determine;
(e) to establish and maintain research, training welfare and protective institutions;
(f) subject to approval of the State Authority, to borrow money or give financial undertaking;
(g) to mortgage or charge as security for the repayment of its debt, any property vested in the Majlis or any income receivable by the Majlis under this Enactment or any other written law; and
(h) to do all acts which the Majlis considers expedient and beneficial.
