Section 9. Attempt to leave the religion of Islam

Any person who makes any attempt to leave the religion of Islam commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding five thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to whipping not exceeding six strokes or to any combination thereof.
