PART V - PROSECUTION AND REPRESENTATION
Section 57. Syariah Prosecutors.
(1) Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan shall, after consultation with the majlis, appoint a member of the Public Service, who is fit to be a Syariah High Court Judge, to be the Chief Syariah Prosecutor.
(2) The Chief Syariah Prosecutior shall have power exercisable at his discretion to institute conduct or discontinue any proceedings for an offence before a Syariah Court.
(3) The Majlis may, after consultation with the Chief Syariah Prosecutor appoint fit and proper person from among the members of the Puiblic Service to be Syariah Prosecutors who shall act under the general control and direction of the Chief Syariah Prosecutor and may exercise all or any of the rights and powers vested in or exercisable by the Chief Syariah Prosecutor under any written law except the rights or powers specifically stated to be exercised by the Chief Syariah Prosecutor personally.
