PART V - OF APPEAL AND REVISION CHAPTER 17 - OF APPEALS TO THE SYARIAH HIGH COURT
Section 143. Decision on appeal.
At the hearing of the appeal the Syariah High Court may-
(a) dismiss the appeal if it considers that there is no sufficient ground for in terfering;
(b) in an appeal from an order of acquittal, revoke the order, and direct that the accused be re-tried or find him guilty and pass sentence on him according to law;
(c) in an appeal from a conviction or in an appeal as to sentence-
(i) reject the finding and quash the sentence and acquit or discharge the accused, or order him to be retried; or
(ii) alter the finding, confirm the sentence, or with or without altering the finding, reduce or enhance the sentence or alter the nature of the sentence;
(d) in an appeal from any other order, alter or revoke such order.
