Section 92. Guardianship of Infants Act 1961 not applicable if contrary to Hukum Syarak.
(1) Nothing in the Guardianship of Infants Act 1961 which is contrary to Hukum Syarak or the adat of the Malays shall be applicable to a person below the age of eighteen years, who is of the Islamic faith and whose father is of the Islamic faith or who at the date of his death was also of the Islamic faith, or in respect of an illegitimate child whose mother is of the Islamic faith or was of the Islamic faith.
(2) With respect to any other person, the provisions of the Act to the extent of their inconsistencies with Hukum Syarak shal1 cease to apply to any person when he embraces the Islamic faith if at the date of conversion he has reached eighteen years of age and if he is not eighteen years of age when he is converted he has obtained the consent of the person who by the Act mentioned above is his guardian.
