PART II - MARRIAGE
Section 22. Solemnization of marriages in Malaysian Embassies, etc, abroad.
(1) Subject to subsection (2), a marriage may be solemnized in accordance with Hukum Syara' by the Registrar appointed under section 26(5) at the Malaysian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate in any country that has not notified the Government of Malaysia of its objection to solemnization of marriages at such Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate.
(2) Before solemnizing a marriage under this section, the Registrar shall be satisfied-
(a) that one or both of the parties to the marriage are residents of the S ate of Perak;
(b) that each party has the capacity to marry according to Hukum Syara' and this Enactment; and
(c) that, where either party is not a resident of the State of Perak, the proposed marriage, if solemnized, will be regarded as valid in the place where that party is resident.
(3) The procedure for solemnization and registration of a marriage under thi section shall be similar in all respects to that applicable to other marriages solemnized and registered in the State this Enactment as if the Registrar appointed for a foreign country were a Registrar for the State of Perak.
