Section 29B. Power to require attendance of witnesses.


A Syariah Enforcement Officer making an investigation under this Enactment, may by order in writing require the attendance before himself of any person who appears to him to be acquainted with the circumstances of the case, and such person shall attend as so required:

Provided that no person shall be required under this section to perform a journey of more than seven miles from his usual place of abode exclusive of such portion of the journey as may be performed by train or motor car or other vehicle.

(2) If any person subject to an order under sub-section (1) fails to attend as required by the order, tha Syariah Enforcement Officer may report the failure to a Kadi who may thereupon issue a warrant to secure the attendance of the person as required by the order.
