ENACTMENT 2004
PART I - PRELIMINARY
Section 6. Subsisting valid marriages deemed to be registered under this Enactment and dissoluble only under this Enactment.
(1) Nothing in this Enactment shall affect the validity of any marriage solemnized under any law wheresoever prior to the appointed date.
(2) Such marriage, if valid under the law under which it was solemnized, shall be deemed to be registered under this Enactment.
(3) Every such marriage, unless void under the law under which it was solemnized, shall continue until dissolved—
(a) by the death of one of the parties to the marriage;
(b) by such talaq as may be pronounced under this Enactment;
(c) by order of a Court of competent jurisdiction; or
(d) by a declaration of nullity made by a Court of competent jurisdiction.
