Section 56. Injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the Religion of Islam.

Any person who destroys, damages, or defiles any place of worship, mosque or surau, or any of its equipments, with the intention of thereby insulting the Religion of Islam or for any intention or purpose whatsoever shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding three thousand ringgit or imprisonment to a term not exceeding two years or to both.
