Section 83. Giving or fabricating false evidence with intent to procure conviction of an offence punishable with imprisonment.

Any person who gives or fabricates false evidence, intending thereby to cause, or knowing it is to be likely that he will thereby cause, any person to be convicted of an offence under this Enactment, shall be punished as a person convicted of that offence would be liable to be punished.

ILLUSTRATION

A. gives false evidence before a Court intending thereby to cause Z. to be convicted of takfir. The punishment of takfir is a fine not exceeding five thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to both. A. is therefore liable to be punished as such as provided by law.
