Section 53. Teaching of Religion without Tauliah.

(1) Any person who engages in the teaching of religion without a tauliah from the Tauliah Committee under subsection 118(3) of the Administration Enactment, except to members of his family at his place of residence only, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding three thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or both.

(2) A person whose tauliah is withdrawn but does not return the tauliah to the Tauliah Committee shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding five hundred ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both.
