Section 34. Appointment of Mufti.
(1) His Royal Highness the Sultan shall appoint a fit and proper person to be the State Mufti for such period and subject to such conditions at the pleasure of His Royal Highness.
(2) Upon the commencement of this section, the person who immediately before the commencement of this section was the State Mufti shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under this section to be the State Mufti and shall hold office as such, until the appointment of the State Mufti under this Enactment.
(3) A Deputy State Mufti may be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan to assist the Mufti in discharging his duties under this Enactment.
(4) The appointment of Mufti and Deputy Mufti shall be published in the Gazette.
