PART VIII - RELIGIOUS EDUCATIONS



Section 113. Non-government Islamic religious schools.


(1) The control of non-government Islamic religious schools shall rest with the Majlis and the Majlis shall have power to register and control the running of the schools and to approve the curriculum for such schools.

(2) The Majlis may direct any of its officers to inspect any non-government Islamic religious schools for the purpose of satisfying itself that all the requirements of the Majlis has been complied with.

(3) The Majlis shall have the power to order any person employed or to be employed to teach in any non-government Islamic religious school to undergo an examination conducted by the Committee and in cases where such person fails to pass the said examination, the Majlis shall have the power to revoke or reject his appointment as a teacher in the school.

(4) The Majlis shall have the power to order the closure of any non-government Islamic religious school deemed unsatisfactory by the Committee.

(5) Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this section commits an offence and shall on conviction be punishable with a fine not exceeding one thousand ringgit or with imprisonment not exceeding six months or both.

(6) For the purpose of this section Islamic religious school means any school, madrasah, education centres or any place where Islamic religious education are conducted including pre-school, primary school, secondary school and pre-university.
