PART IX - OFFENCES
Section 140. Neglect and ill-treatment on wife.
(1) Whoever has ceased to cohabit with his wife and after having been ordered by a Court to resume cohabitation with his, wilfully disobeys or neglect from obeying such order shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fifteen days or to both.
(2) Whoever ill-treats or assaults his wife or unjustly deals with the property of his wife shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fifteen days or to both.
(3) Whoever fails to fulfill his obligations as a husband towards his wife according to Hukum Syara' shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred ringgit or with imprisonment for a term not exceeding fifteen days or both.
