PART IV - MARRIAGE, DIVORCE AND RUJUK



Section 87. Rectification of errors.


(1) If it shall appear that any entry in any register or any certificate lawfully issued under this Enactment has been made or issued in error or containing false entries, the President shall have the power to investigate and if satisfied to rectify the error.

(2) Upon receipt of an order from the President to rectify an error the Registrar of the District involved or an officer performing the functions of the Registrar, shall rectify such according to the order.

(3) Whoever is in possession or has in custody a certificate containing particulars which are incorrect or false shall surrender it to the Registrar whenever ordered to do so.

(4) No order under this section shall be issued to the prejudice of any person unless he has had an opportunity of being heard, either personally or by his Counsel.

(5) The power of rectification of errors under this section shall extend to the entries made or certificates issued before the coming into force of this Enactment.

(6) The President may if he thinks necessary, appoint a committee to investigate matters under this section.
