ENACTMENT 9 ADMINISTRATION OF ISLAMIC LAW (KEDAH DARUL AMAN) ENACTMENT 2008.
PART II - MAJLIS AGAMA ISLAM NEGERI KEDAH DARUL AMAN
Section 11. Membership of the Majlis
(1) The Majlis shall consist of the following members-
(a) a President;
(b) a Deputy President;
(c) six ex-officio members who shall be the persons for the time being holding the following appointments:
(i) the Mufti;
(ii) Chief Syarie Judge;
(iii) the State Secretary;
(iv) the State Legal Adviser;
(v) the State Financial Officer;
(vi) Secretary; and
(d) such number of members appointed with the consent of His Royal Highness the Sultan.
(2) The members appointed under paragraph 11(1)(a), (b) and (d) shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan for such period, not exceeding three years, as His Royal Highness the Sultan may determine.
(3) A member whose term of office has expired may be reappointed.
(4) If at any time the person holding the appointment mentioned in subparagraph 11(1)(c)(iii) is not a Muslim, His Royal Highness the Sultan shall appoint another officer who is a Muslim and next in seniority from the same Department or Division to be a member in place of that person.
(5) Any person who, immediately before the commencement of this section, was the President and member of Majlis, shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under the previous enactment and continue to be the President and member of the Majlis until the expiry of his term of appointment.
(6) Members of the Majlis may be paid such allowances or remuneration as determined with the consent of the Ruler-in-Council.
