PART X - PROCEDURE IN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS
Section 198. Detention because investigation cannot be completed within twenty four hours.
(1) Whenever a person is arrested and detained and investigation on the case cannot be completed within twenty-four hours and there are grounds for believing that the accusation or information is well founded the officer investigating the case shall forthwith transmit the information on the case in brief to a Kadi and shall at the same time produce the person arrested before such Kadi.
(2) The Kadi before whom the person arrested is produced under this section may, whether he has or has no jurisdiction to try the case, from time to time authorize the detention of that person as he thinks fit for a term not exceeding fifteen days in the whole.
(3) The Kadi authorizing detention under this section shall record his reasons for so doing.
