Section 19. Arrest without warrant.
(1) Without prejudice to the provisions of any other written law, any Penyelia Agama, Pegawai from the Majlis, Police Officer, Pegawai Masjid, Penghulu or a qualified Guru Agama may without an order from a Kadi and without a warrant, arrest-
(a) any person who has committed or attempted to commit in his presence any offence under the Administration of Muslim Law Enactment 1962, the Islamic Family Law Enactment 1979 and the Syariah Criminal Code Enactment 1988 and who refuses on the demand of such officer to give his name and residence or gives his name or residence which such officer has reason to believe to be false or who on the demand of such officer to give his name and address as his residence a place not within the State; or
(b) any person against whom a warrant issued under this Enactment is still in force, although such warrant is not in his possession.
(2) Nothing in this section shall be held to limit or to modify the operation of any other written law empowering a Penyelia Agama, pegawai from the Majlis, Pegawai Masjid, Police Officer, Penghulu or qualified Guru Agama to arrest without warrant.
