PART XII - GENERAL PROCEDURE
Section 240. Subpoena to give evidence or produce documents.
(1) The Court may issue a subpoena to any person to give evidence or to produce any document in his possession or power. Every such subpoena shall be served personally and any person so served, whether a Muslim or not, shall be legally bound to comply therewith.
(2) The Court may, before issuing such subpoena, order the payment of reasonable travelling and subsistence expenses of any witness.
(3) Any person who has received a subpoena or direction from the court to attend court and has endorsed the service of the subpoena or direction upon him fails to appear in Court without given any excuse or if any given it is in the opinion of the court, unreasonable, the Court may issue a warrant of arrest.
