PART IV - DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE Procedure In Cases Where Officer Or Servant Is Absent Without Leave And Cannot Be Traced
Rule 29. Officer or servant absent without leave and cannot be traced.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of rule 50, where an officer or servant is absent without leave for seven consecutive days and cannot be traced, the Head of Department shall cause a letter to be sent to the officer or servant by A. R. Registered Post to his last known address as furnished to the Head of Department under rule 50, directing the officer or servant to report for duty forthwith.
(2) If, after the letter is delivered,-
(a) the officer or servant reports for duty; or
(b) the officer or servant fails to report for duty or no news whatsoever is heard from him,
the Head of Department shall submit a report to the Disciplinary committee and the Disciplinary Committee shall institute disciplinary action in accordance with these rules.
(3) If the A.R. Registered letter is returned undelivered, the Head of Department shall report the matter to the Disciplinary Committee and the Disciplinary Committee shall take steps to notify in the Gazette that the officer or servant is absent without leave and cannot be traced.
(4) For the purpose of this rule, if the A.R. Registered letter is received by a person other than the intended officer or servant, the letter shall be deemed to be undelivered.
