PART IV - DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE General Procedure
Rule 27. Procedure in disciplinary cases not with a view to dismissal or reduction in rank.
(1) Where the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee finds that the breach of discipline complained of is of a nature which merits a punishment lesser than dismissal or reduction in rank, the Disciplinary Committee shall inform the officer or servant in writing the facts of the breach of discipline alleged against him and shall give to the officer or servant an opportunity of making a representation in writing within a period of not less than twenty-one days from the date of receipt of the facts.
(2) Where, after considering the representation, if any, made under subrule (1), the Disciplinary Committee finds-
(a) the officer or servant guilty, it shall impose anyone or more of the punishments specified in rule 38 as it deems fit and proper; or
(b) the officer or servant not guilty, it shall acquit him.
