PEGUAM SYARIE REGULATIONS 1995

PART I - PRELIMINARY

Regulation 2. Interpretation

In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires-

advocate and solicitor" has the same meaning assigned to it in the Legal Profession Act 1976 (Act 166);

"Chief Syarie Prosecutor" means the officer appointed under section 65 of the Enactment;

"Committee" means the Peguam Syarie Committee established under regulation 3;

"Enactment" means the Administration of Islamic Law Enactment 1991 (Enact. 3/91);

"Majlis" means the Majlis Ugama Islam dan Adat Resam Melayu Pahang;

"Peguam Syarie" means a qualified person who is admitted as a Peguam Syarie under regulation 12;

"Register" means the Peguam Syarie Register mentioned in regulation 13;

"Sijil" Peguam Syarie examination" means the examination conducted by the Committee under regulation 7;

"Syariah Courts" has the same meaning assigned to it in section 2 of the Enactment.
