PART III - PEGUAM SYARIE
Rule 9. Qualifications of Peguam Syarie
Any person who fulfills the following conditions is eligible for appointment as Peguam Syarie-
(a) any Legal Officer of the Federal Goverment;
(b) any Legal Practitioner having a valid certificate issued under the Legal Profession Act, 1976 (Act 166); or
(c) any person who has attained the age of 21 years; and
(d) any person who has been conferred the degree of Bachelor of Syariah and Bachelor of Law recognised by MAINPP from a higher educational institution which is recognised by the Federal Goverment ; and
(e) (i) has undergone professional training in any field of Islamic jurisprudence recognised by MAINPP; or
(ii) is learned in Islamic Law; and
(f) is of good character, and-
(i). has not been convicted in Malaysia or anywhere else for any criminal offence (under any written law) which disqualifies him from being a Peguam Syarie; or
(ii) has not been adjudged a bankrupt; or
(iii) has not been found guilty for any act or omission mentioned in paragraph 33(6)(a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (h), (k)or (l)of the Bankruptcy, Act 1967(Act 55); and
