In these Rules, unless the context otherwise requires —
“Enactment” means the Syariah Court Civil Procedure (State of Penang) Enactment 2004;
“Majlis” means Majlis Sulh mentioned in subrule 5(1);
“Court” means the Syariah High Court or the Syariah Subordinate Court, as the case may be, established under subsection 55(1) or 55(2) of the Administration of the Religion of Islam (State of Penang) Enactment 2004;
“Registrar” includes the Chief Registrar and the Registrar of the Syariah High Court and the Assistant Registrar of the Syariah Subordinate Court;
“hearing” means any proceeding in open Court or in chambers;
“Chairman” means the Chairman of Majlis Sulh;
“public officer” includes the Registrar, a Syariah Officer and a Legal Officer appointed under subsection 3(2) of Legal Aid Act 1971.
