Regulation 7. Qualification of members of the Jawatankuasa Kariah

(1) A person shall be qualified to be nominated as a member of the Jawatankuasa Kariah if he-

(a) is a Muslim;

(b) is a citizen of Malaysia;

(d) is not less than eighteen years old;

(e) is a member of that

kariah masjid

;

(f) has knowledge in Islamic religion and upholds the belief of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah;

(g) has good manners and trustworthy;

(h) habitually performs congregational prayer in the masjid of his

kariah

;

(i) is healthy physically and mentally;

(j) is not an undischarged bankrupt; and

(k) has not been convicted with any criminal offences by any Court.

(2) The Majlis may, if it is satisfied that there are special circumtances relating to a particular person and it is not contrary to the interest of the public, exempt the qualification specified in paragraphs (1)(b), (c), (e) and (k).
